400 tons of aid reaches Syrian airports on Feb. 26
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, the airports of Damascus, Aleppo, and Latakia received 10 planes carrying relief aid sent by the UAE, Pakistan and European countries.
The Damascus International Airport received a European plane carrying 120 tons of aid, three UAE planes carrying more than 148 tons of relief materials, and a Pakistani plane carrying 4 tons of medications and food products.
The Latakia International Airport received three UAE planes carrying 66 tons of relief aid.
As for Aleppo International Airport, it received two UAE planes carrying more than 56 tons of relief aid to help earthquake-affected people.
Since February 6, when a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Syria and Turkey, dozens of relief planes landed in Syrian government-held areas. Nevertheless, a lot of residents, who live in the disaster zones, complained about not receiving aid at all.
Social media users have circulated dozens of videos and photos showing aid, meant for quake-affected people, for sale in the souks of many cities including Damascus and Latakia.
