SRTF to launch new solar power projects in NE, NW Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syria Recovery Trust Fund (SRTF) announced approving two new electricity projects in northeast and northwest Syria.
These projects will promote sustainable and reliable sources of energy solutions in the targeted areas with a budget of €135,430,155.
The first project will provide solar power and clean water to 14 health centers in villages in the countryside of Raqqa and Deir-ez-Zor, as well as it will address the increasing demands for reliable electricity and clean water sources.
This project will indirectly benefit 58.909 people of the local communities, improve the healthcare services provided to them, and improve the quality of life for those in need.
While the second project will be implemented in northern Aleppo, as a Solar photovoltaic (PV) systems will be installed to operate health facilities in the targeted area.
IDPs and local residents directly of this area will benefit from this project.
“Our goal is to improve healthcare services and reduce morbidity rates through the implementation of projects,” said the Director General of the SRTF Eng. Hani Khabbaz.
In addition, SRTF launched an earthquake emergency response plane response plans to provide immediate assistance to quake-affected Syrians after the deadly Feb.6 earthquake that hit Syria and Turkey.
SRTF, according to their website, is a “multi-donor trust fund” established on the initiative of the Friends of the Syrian People, and by an agreement between Germany, the United Arab Emirates, and the US along with the National Coalition of Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces.
They have completed projects across Syria in the Aleppo, Idlib, Jarablus, Raqqa, and Deir ez-Zor regions.
