MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – The coalition of civil society organizations of North and East Syria dispatched on Monday a convoy loaded with relief aid for people in Syrian opposition-held areas in northwest Syria who were affected by the Feb. 6 earthquake.

Coordinator of the coalition, Avin Sheikhmous told North Press, “Civil society organizations of North and East Syria launched a donation campaign for the affected people in disaster areas.”

She added that there are 66 trucks loaded with clothes, furniture, food, infant formula, medical supplies and other items, and that big sums of money were collected for those affected.

She noted that the aid of the convoy is collected by residents, clans and tribes and the coalition of the civil society organizations in the regions of North and East Syria as part of the ‘Here is Syria’ campaign.

Sheikhmous asked for assistance so that aid can reach fast to people in need in the earthquake-afflicted areas.

At dawn on February 6, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit northwest Syria, killing 5.587 and injuring many more, in addition to leveling thousands of buildings in these areas.
