Buildings collapse in north Aleppo by aftershocks
ALEEPO, Syria (North Press) – Three buildings and two houses collapsed on Tuesday in the city of Azaz and its surroundings in the northern countryside of Aleppo by a 4.9-magnitude aftershock on the Richter scale.
A local source told North Press, “Three buildings close to al-Qalaa roundabout in the city of Azaz collapsed owing to cracks made by an aftershock on Monday.”
“Two houses fell in the village of Nayarah in east of Azaz city by the aftershock, but no losses were reported,” the source said.
“All concerned bodies asked people in the region to evacuate dilapidated buildings,” the source noted.
On Tuesday, the death and injury toll in northwest Syria reached nearly 3.300 with hundreds still under the rubble. Search operations for survivors continue, the source added.
At dawn on Monday, a powerful earthquake hit central and south Turkey and north and northwest Syria, claiming thousands of lives and destroying thousands of buildings.
