Arab League Calls on International Community to Help Syrians

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Arab League called on Monday for providing assistance to Syrians after an earthquake struck northern Syria.

In a Twitter post, the Secretary General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, called on the international community to provide support and assistance to rescue the people affected by this humanitarian catastrophe.

Aboul Gheit paid his condolences to the Syrian people and relatives of the victims of the destructive earthquake.

Syria witnessed at 4:17 am a 7.8 magnitude earthquake affected by another stronger one that hit Turkey’s Gaziantep.

Earlier on Monday, the Deputy Special Envoy for Syria, Najat Rochdi, said urgent assistance is required.

The United Nations Mission to Syria stated that they are preparing assistance for areas affected by the earthquake.
