284 Dead, 2.300 Wounded in Turkey’s Earthquake
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority announced the preliminary toll of casualties of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Turkey at dawn.
So far, 284 have lost their lives and 2.300 have been injured in seven Turkish provinces, Kahramanmaraş, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Adana, Adıyaman, Malatya.
The earthquake caused the collapse of several residential buildings. The casualties are unknown as rescue teams are still searching for survivors under the rubble.
The earthquake also harmed several Syrian areas, killing 237 people and injuring 536 others as many people are still trapped under collapsed building.
