Short circuit sparks fire in building of Education Board in Syria’s Qamishli
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, fire broke out in a building belonging to Education Board of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) in the city of Qamishli.
The fire resulted in the burning of the board’s financial offices.
A source of the board told North Press that the fire broke out at about 10:00 pm in a building of the schools’ management in the eastern part of the city.
The source, who preferred to remain unnamed, added the short circuit caused slight damages to the financial office without mentioning more details.
The AANES was first formed in 2014 in the Kurdish-majority regions of Afrin, Kobani and Jazira in northern Syria following the withdrawal of the government forces. Later, it was expanded to Manbij, Tabqa, Raqqa, Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor after the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) defeated Islamic State (ISIS) militarily there.
