DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Unknown flight targeted on Wednesday Zelikan military base of Turkish forces east of the city of Mosul, northern Iraq, with eight missile airstrikes, causing no casualties.
The Zelikan military base, which has been a headquarters for the Turkish forces since 2015, was always a controversial issue between Ankara and Baghdad and has been targeted repeatedly by rocket attacks during recent months.
Baghdad has repeatedly urged Turkey to withdraw from its occupied territory, however, Turkey has not responded yet.
Turkey deploys its forces in several areas northern Iraq and Syria and bombs these areas constantly under the pretext of fighting Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
