KRI president congratulates Kurds on Kobani liberation from ISIS
ERBIL, KRI, Iraq( North Press) – On Thursday, President of Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) Nechirvan Barzani congratulated the Kurdish people on the annual anniversary of liberating the city of Kobani from the Islamic State (ISIS).
“I congratulate all the people of Kurdistan on the anniversary of the liberation of Kobani,” Barzani said in a tweet.
Kobani was liberated by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), backed by the US-led Global Coalition, following violent battles against ISIS. Kobani is also the place where the Coalition-SDF relationship has been forged.
“In this commemoration, we remember with respect and appreciation the lifeguards of this great heroism and bow down to their lives,” Barzani noted.
The President of KRI indicated that people of Kurdistan will never forget the role played by the Coalition in defeating terrorism.
