Russia cancels 3rd joint patrol with Turkey in Syria’s Kobani
KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – Russian Military Police (MP) cancelled on Monday for the third consecutive week a joint patrol that was scheduled to be conducted with Turkish forces in the western countryside of Kobani, northern Syria.
On Nov. 28, the Russian MP cancelled another patrol that was scheduled to be conducted with the Turkish forces in the eastern countryside of Kobani.
On Nov. 21, Russian MP cancelled a joint patrol with the Turkish forces, it was scheduled to be conducted in the western countryside of Kobani.
The three patrols have been canceled due to Turkish military escalation on Kobani, according to an exclusive source.
Since November 20, Kobani was subjected to fierce military escalation by Turkish warplanes. The bombardment also covered vast swaths of lands in northern Syria.
As a result of the Turkish escalation, civilians and military personnel of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Syrian government forces were targeted and infrastructure sites were devastated, including gas and oil facilities.
On Monday at dawn, Turkish artillery targeted with four shells the village of Zor Maghar, 35 kilometers west of Kobani.
Since Turkey began the military escalation on Nov. 20 on areas on the border strip with Turkey starting from Shahba in Aleppo northern countryside to the city of Derik (al-Malikiyah) in the far northeast Syria, several government posts have undergone shelling.
On Dec. 1, three soldiers of the government forces have been wounded in a Turkish drone attack on a government military post in the village of Koran, 25 kilometers east of Kobani.
The three soldiers were transferred to Kobani Hospital for treatment.
On November 14, the Russian MP and the Turkish forces conducted the 119th patrol in the eastern countryside of Kobani.
