SDF raids river smuggling crossings in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) raided on Wednesday river smuggling crossings connecting SDF-held areas with those held by Syrian government in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, a governorate eastern Syria.

A military source of the SDF said that an SDF patrol raided river crossings for smuggling in the towns of al- Shuhail, al-Zer, and al-Busaira, in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, as a result, clashes with a group of smugglers broke out.

The patrol seized large amounts of fuel prepared to be smuggled to the government-held areas and burned a large amount of it on the western side of the river held by the government forces, the source added.

The SDF and US-led Global Coalition conduct patrols at the river smuggling crossings on an almost daily basis.

Two days ago, an SDF patrol seized large amounts of fuel meant for smuggling in al-Busayrah.
