QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Escalation of activities by Islamic State Organization (ISIS) in all regions of northeast Syria comes after the completion of the “Humanity and Security” operation, Aram Hanna, the official spokesperson of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said on Thursday.
On September 17, the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) announced the completion of the Humanity and Security Operation to pursue ISIS sleeper cells in Hawl Camp, arresting 226 individuals, including 36 “radical” women, suspected of belonging to ISIS.
On August 25, the Asayish announced launching the second phase of Operation “Humanity and Security” in Hawl Camp to the ISIS sleeper.
Hanna added that ISIS’ plans could not be succeed without intelligence or security support from “known” internal and regional powers.
He believed that the Hawl Camp is one of the most prominent targets of the “terrorists” who are planning to launch attacks on its outskirts and commit crimes inside it to “provoke chaos and decrease the level of the security”.
On Thursday, US Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Lindsey Graham introduced the Syria Detainee and Displaced Persons Act to address the humanitarian and security concerns posed by the camps in north and east Syria, specifically the Hawl Camp, which houses thousands of displaced people and detainees affiliated with ISIS.
“The continuation of the supportive conditions of terrorism will lead to catastrophic consequences that contradict the goals the SDF and the international forces seek to achieve.”
