Tunisia Ennahda leaders questioned for sending jihadists to Syria

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Reports said on Sunday that the Tunisian police recalled leader of Ennahda Party and other leading figures for questioning under “sending jihadists to Syria.”

Leaders of Tunisia’s Islamist opposition party Ennahda, Rached Ghannouchi and Ali Larayedh, have been called for questioning by police on Monday for “sending jihadists to Syria,” party officials told Reuters on Saturday.

Ghannouchi told Reuters by telephone that he will appear before police on Monday, adding that he is unaware of the reason, according to Reuters.

Tunisian websites stated an official security body called Ghannouchi and his deputy Ali Larayedh in addition to the prominent leader in the movement Noureddine Bhiri for questioning on the background of sending youths to hotbeds of tension and terror.

Local reports said the Public Prosecution had decided earlier commencing a criminal research against 126 persons including former security and political figures and MPs regarding researches related to complicity with networks sending youths to hotbeds of terror outside Tunisia.”

The leader of Ennahda has repeatedly denied that the movement is involved in facilitating sending radicals to fight along with extremists in Syria.
