HTS graduates first batch of Military College in Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, Syrian Salvation Government, the civil wing of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly Jabhat al-Nusra) graduated first batch of a Military College, a year after announcing it was established in Idlib, a governorate in northwestern Syria.
Recently, the HTS has intensified training of its militants and graduated several military and legal batches of all its brigades.
An exclusive source told North Press that the Military College graduated 400 First Officers.
The ceremony was attended by the HTS leader Abu Mohammad al-Julani.
Recently, military sources said that the HTS in coordination with Syrian opposition factions in Idlib intended to launch a military operation against the Syrian government in the countryside of Idlib and Aleppo.
The HTS holds large parts of Idlib and the countryside of Hama, Aleppo and Latakia, northwestern Syria.
On May 2021, the HTS started recruiting men in its areas of control through opening recruitment centers, instead of previous affiliation centers to join them.
The recruitment centers were deployed in the towns and cities of Harem, Atmeh, Ariha, Sarmada, and Jisr al-Shughur”, as well as in Idlib.
The United States listed al-Jolani as a specially designated global terrorist in 2013. In 2020, US State Department Reward for Justice Program offered a reward of $10 million for information leading to his arrest.
