Turkish forces shell countryside of Hasakah, Aleppo

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Turkish forces targeted on Sunday several villages in the countryside of the governorates of Hasakah, northeastern Syria, and Aleppo.

Tel Tamr Military Council, affiliated with Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), told North Press that Turkish artillery shelled the Assyrian village of Tel Tawil, west of Tel Tamr, north of Hasakah, causing material damage.

On the same day, the Turkish forces also shelled the village of Herbel in the northern countryside of Aleppo, according to eyewitnesses from the area.

Another eyewitness said that the Turkish artillery shelled on Saturday the vicinity of the villages of Herbel and Hasajek with dozens of shells that fell on agricultural lands.

Several villages in the countryside of Tel Tamr have been witnessing intermittent shelling for the fourth day in a row.

Villages in the countryside of Aleppo also are shelled on an almost daily basis.

Tel Tamr, which has a population of about 25,000 and is 30 km away from the Syrian-Turkish border, is of strategic importance as it is a junction on the M4 Highway linking the Jazira region in northeast Syria to Aleppo governorate in northwest.
