QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Since January 2022, Israel has targeted Syrian territory 21 times with rockets and airstrikes, harming some of 64 targets, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) revealed in a report on Sunday.

Israel has continued its attacks against Syrian territory since 2018 under pretext of fighting Iranian presence and curbing increasing influence of Iranian-backed militias on Syrian soil, according to the report.

45 military personnel were killed and 57 others were injured during those attacks.

The deaths were as follows: two Iranian officers serving in the Quds Force, ten Syrians affiliated with Iranian-backed militias, ten non-Syrian nationalities affiliated with pro-Iranian militias, 21 soldiers of the Syrian government forces, two militants of the Lebanese Hezbollah.

Additionally, head of the Workers’ Office of the Ground Shipping  in Damascus International Airport was killed, 23 civilians, including a child and three women, were injured as well, according to SOHR.

As for the targeted sites, they are as follows: 12 sites in Damascus and its countryside, five in Quneitra, three in Hama and two in Tartus.

SOHR called for keeping civilians and Syrian areas away from regional conflict.

On August 25, several sites in the western countryside of Hama, in western Syria, were subjected to Israeli airstrikes against military posts, likely affiliated with the Iranian-backed militias.

On Saturday, the Syrian government called for the United Nations and the Security Council to issue condemnation to the Israeli attacks on its territories.
