Turkish forces kill two children in shelling Syria’s Manbij countryside
MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – Turkish forces bombed on Wednesday the village of Arab Hassan, north Manbij, north Syria, killing two children.
A guided missile targeted the house of a civilian called Abdullatif al-Hanafi, killing his two children aged 12 and 13, an informed source from the village told North Press.
The Turkish bombardment came from the Turkish base off the village of Arab Hassan, north of the Sajur River, north of Manbij, the source added.
Meanwhile, the Manbij Military Council’s media center said that al-Jarad farm, north of Manbij was hit with more than 15 mortar shells.
On June 1, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan renewed his threats to launch a military operation on the cities of Manbij and Tal Rifaat, which house displaced people from several Syrian regions.
On June 27, the Turkish forces targeted with more than 90 mortars and artillery shells the villages of Arab Hassan, Aoun al-Dadat, al-Jarad and the north of Manbij, without recording any casualties.
The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) liberated Manbij from ISIS rule in 2016, and the city is now under the control of the SDF-aligned Manbij Military Council (MMC).
