New Iranian oil tanker arrives at Baniyas port in Syria
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Director-General of Baniyas Refinery of the Syrian government, Mahmoud Qassem, announced the arrival of a new Iranian oil tanker loaded with about 300.000 of barrels of crude oil at the port of Baniyas, citing al-Araby al-Jadeed as saying.
The tanker is the third to reach the coast of Baniyas in a week, where the previous two ones were loaded with two millions barrels of crude oil, without knowing its source.
Qassem said in a press statement, “All the refinery units, especially distillation unit have got ready for refining and supplying the market with oil derivatives and awaiting the arrival of a new oil tanker carrying 300.000 barrels of crude oil.”
Syrian government-held areas are experiencing a fuel shortage crisis, as fuel prices have reached record levels and public transport vehicle owners are reluctant to work.
Last week, an official in the Syrian government noted to the reduction of the quantities of fuel allocated to the governorates, and not providing public transport vehicles with fuel on Fridays and Saturdays.
