QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, federal court in Brooklyn in New York City sentenced the Uzbek citizen residing in Brooklyn Dilkhayot Kasimov to 15 years in prison over charges of conspiracy and funding the Islamic State Organization (ISIS).
Following a one-week trial in September 2019, Kasimov was convicted of conspiring and attempting to provide material support to the designated foreign terrorist organization ISIS.
The 34-year-old Kasimov was a member of a group that sought to travel to Syria to join ISIS or fund others to become members of ISIS, according to the court filings.
