US court sentences ISIS Beatles’ member to life

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A US court sentenced, Friday, a member of “The Beatles”, an Islamic State sleeper cell, to life for killing hostages in Syria.

Alexanda Kotey, a 38-year-old former British national, pleaded guilty in September, admitting his responsibility for the deaths of four American hostages in Syria as well as the kidnapping and torture of some 20 other journalists and relief workers.

Kotey was captured along with El Shafee Elsheikh by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in January 2018 and held in Iraq by the US military ysince October 2019.

“The Beatles” is a four-strong ISIS cell that is said to be made up of ringleader Mohammed Emwazi, known as Jihadi John, Aine Davis, Kotey, and Elsheikh.
