Turkish shelling wounds Afrini IDP in Aleppo countryside
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, an IDP from the countryside of the city of Afrin in north of Aleppo governorate, was wounded during shelling by Turkish forces and their affiliated armed Syrian opposition factions of a village in the northern countryside of Aleppo governorate.
The Turkish forces and the affiliated factions (also known as the Syrian National Army, SNA) targeted the village of Umm al-Qora with two artillery shells, wounding the IDP Younes Mustafa Dawood in addition to causing destruction to his house and car, a local source said.
The 33-year-old Dawood was hit with a piece of shrapnel in the back and it lodged in his abdomen, a medical source in Avrin Hospital in Shahba region said.
So far his is undergoing a surgery and his health is still precarious, according to the medical source.
For hours, the villages of Ibbin, Herbel, al-Wahshiya, Umm al-Qora and Maarat Umm Hawsh in the northern countryside of Aleppo have been subjected to fierce shelling fired by the Turkish forces and the Turkish-backed SNA.
On Thursday, a 12-year-old child was wounded in Turkish shelling of the village of Tenneb, which is affiliated with Sheran district.
The Turkish military escalation in the northern countryside of Aleppo coincides with statements by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, threating to launch a military operation on areas north Syria particularly Tel Rifaat and Manbij.
