SDF conducts successful operation against ISIS in Deir ez-Zor
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) conducted a successful operation against an ISIS member in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, an exclusive source from the US-led Global Coalition told North Press.
The operation, which was conducted in al-Shuhail town, east of Deir ez-Zor, was backed with aerial support from the coalition forces, the source said.
He added that in order to ensure the safety and security of the local residents, the SDF conducted a loudspeaker call-out to keep citizens in their homes and to not be put into danger during the operation.
On May 7, the SDF announced the arrest of 21 people with rockets and IED in possession in al-Omar Oil Field east of Deir ez-Zor, four of which were confirmed to be ISIS members.
The SDF keeps pursuing ISIS sleeper cells in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor with the aim to maintain security and stability of the region.
