Iraqi Intelligence Apprehends Five Prominent ISIS Members
ERBIL, KRG, Iraq (North Press) – Iraq’s Intelligence Service announced yesterday arresting five prominent members of the Islamic State Organization (ISIS).
A statement issued by the Iraqi Security Media Cell stated that the Intelligence forces of the governorates of Baghdad, Nineveh and Kirkuk had captured five ISIS members.
The statement said that two of the accused had worked in what was known as “Maj. Gen. Selman al-Abassi’s diwan al-jund” in Kirkuk governorate.
According to the statement, two of them worked in what is called “the Board of Justice and Grievances in Nineveh Governorate”, but the other, nicknamed Abo Ibrahim, worked in “the Euphrates Province” in Baghdad Governorate.
Meanwhile, the Intelligence Service was able to seize weapons and equipment in al-Tarmia district by tracking the militants’ footsteps.
The Iraqi Forces continue their operations against ISIS despite announcing victory five years ago.
Earlier yesterday, Iraqi forces launched the second phase of operation “Solid Will”, which is scheduled to cover the center and west of the country.
Different areas of Iraq, especially on the disputed line between Erbil and Baghdad, are witnessing sporadic operations by ISIS targeting remote villages and security points.
