ISIS’ threat spreads to Israel after Syria, Iraq
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press ) – Yesterday, the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) claimed responsibility for an attack in the city of Hadera city, in the Haifa District in Israel, killing two Border Police officers and wounding others.
On March 27, two Border Police officers and over 12 were wounded in an attack by two Arab-Israeli terrorists with links to ISIS in Hadera.
The two Border Police officers killed in the attack in Hadera were Yazan Fallah, 19, from Kasra Samia, and Shirel Aboukaret, 19, from Netanya, according to The Jerusalem Post.
The two terrorists, who are both residents of Umm al-Fahm, posted a video on Facebook before the attack swearing allegiance to ISIS.
The attack that officials described as “terrorist” took place as US Secretary of State Antony Blinken visits the country to attend a historic series of meetings with the foreign ministers of Israel, Egypt, Morocco, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in southern Israel.
Yesterday, foreign ministers of the aforementioned countries attended the summit in Sde Boker – where the founding Israeli prime minister, David Ben-Gurion, is buried, hoping to allay their misgivings about an emerging Iranian nuclear deal and Washington’s commitment to the region.
Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid briefed his Egyptian, Moroccan, Emirati and Bahraini counterparts about the attack and they all condemned it.
“Tonight’s heinous terrorist attack is an attempt by violent extremists to intimidate and damage the fabric of life here,” Lapid tweeted.
Blinken expressed his country’s condemnation of the “terrorist attack in Hedera.”
“We stand with our Israeli partners and send our condolences to the families of the victims,” Blinken added.
Also four Israelis were killed and others were wounded by supporters of ISIS in the southern Israeli city of Beersheba, last week, in the deadliest terrorist attack on Israeli civilians since 2016.
