Two reasons after increasing attacks against US troops in Syria and Iraq, White House

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The White House said, yesterday, the increasing attacks against the US troops in Syria and Iraq may be related to two reasons which are Vienna negotiations and the anniversary of the killing of the former commander of the Quds Force in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Qassem Soleimani.

“We can’t say definitively who caused them or why the attacks seem to have stepped up. It is certainly possible that it can be related to the talks in Vienna or the anniversary of the Soleimani strike,” White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said at a press conference  .

“But again, right now, we’re still assessing attribution; we’re still assessing intent. So, we don’t have much more analysis at this point in time,” she added.

In early January, al-Asad Airbase in Iraq and the US base in al-Omar oil well area in Syria witnessed several attacks via drones and shells coinciding with the second anniversary of killing of Soleimani by a US hit in Baghdad Airport and the ongoing negotiation over reviving the nuclear agreement with Iran in Vienna.

Meanwhile, the US directs the accusation finger to pro-Iran factions for carrying out these attacks.
