Settlement process in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor threatens social fabric, AANES

Raqqa, Syria (North Press) – The settlement processes the Syrian government is currently conducting in the areas it controls in Syria’s eastern city of Deir ez-Zor threaten the social fabric in the region, an official of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) said on Thursday.

The population as well the administration in the areas run by the AANES rejected such settlement process.

Amina Osi, deputy co-chair of the AANES Executive Council, said the Syrian government aims to breakdown the social fabric in northeast Syria.

Osi stated to North Press that some regional powers attempt to strike the project of the AANES and breakdown stability in northeast Syria.

“The Syrian government should search for a comprehensive political solution for all Syria’s regions in order to take Syria out of the crisis made by the conflict,” Osi said.

The Dier ez-Zor Council has decided to fire every employee who undergoes the settlement process submitted by the government. A decision, said to be of a “valuable stance” by Osi. “All AANES institutions have to adhere to the same stance”.

In mid-November, the Dier ez-Zor legitimate council, run by the AANES, issued a decision to sack every employee who undergoes a settlement with the Syrian government. Accordingly, he/she is denied to work in any civil institutions or organizations.

Media outlets run by the Syrian government promotes for settlement process in Deir ez-Zor and publish daily reports as saying hundreds of people have settled their status.

In mid-November 2021, SANA, Syria’s state news agency, announced conducting a comprehensive settlement for Deir ez-Zor citizens, for “those whose hands are not stained with the blood of the Syrians”, as it said.

Settlement process in areas controlled by the Syrian government is still underway with the attendance of dignitaries from the area.
