SDF foils an attack against its fighters in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said on Wednesday it had foiled an attack on its patrol and killed a gunman in the operation in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.
The official website of the SDF stated that the fighters of the Hajin Military Council thwarted an “attack carried out by two unknown mercenaries riding a motorcycle in the town of al-Jarthi al-Gharbi in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor”.
“One of the attackers was killed and his body fell into the hands of our fighters, while the other fled and hid among civilians’ houses,” the website added.
The SDF pointed out that its forces continued their patrols in the region to follow up their operations in pursuit of “terrorist cells”.
The website indicated that “this is the second attack that our forces have thwarted in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, within two days”.
The identity of the gunman was not revealed due to security measures, according to a source of the Hajin Military Council.
Recently, killings of SDF members, civil employees of the Autonomous Administration, dignitaries and civilians have scaled up. ISIS claimed responsibility for most of them.
