Syrian government facilitates construction projects for Iran

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – SyrianMinister of Public Works and Housing, Suhail Muhammad Abdullatif said he discussed with Iran the possibility of cooperation between the two countries in the domain of constructing social buildings with their annexes in the Syrian capital Damascus and its countryside.

The pro-government newspaper, al-Watan, quoted the minister as saying “26 real estate zones are ready for work. We express full readiness to offer all facilities needed to implement the projects.”

Mary Clair Telli, assistant of Syrian Housing Minister, said they have finished studying the proposals by the Iranian Darya Holding Company under the item ‘partnership’ or ‘investment contracts’ have been studied.

Darya Holding Company comprises several sub-companies specialized in many aspects related to housing, reconstruction, water, energy and industry.

Russian companies monopoly the sector of reconstruction across Syria and Iranian contribution is considered relatively low.

The Syrian arena has been a ground for an unseen conflict between Russia and Iran to sway control over what has left in Syria. Both try to bound Syria with long-term contracts which disown the Syrians from their economic and political decision, observers say.
