SDF reveals death, wounded toll of Turkish offensive on Syria’s north of Hasakah

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) revealed about the casualties and wounded toll of the aggression by Turkish forces and the Turkish-backed armed factions against areas, north of Hasakah, northeast Syria.

“On December 21, in conjunction with the Turkish artillery shelling, groups of the Turkish-backed mercenaries carried out several ground offensive attempts targeting a number of villages of Tel Tamr, north of Hasakah, where militants of Tel Tamr Military Council thwarted all the attempts,” SDF said in a statement on its official account.

“After that, the Turkish occupation conducted a fierce shelling targeting the town of Abu Rasin (Zargan) and its villages in addition to the villages of Tel Tamr with artillery and tanks. The shelling targeted the villages of Ain al-Hawa, Rabi’at, Asadyya, Hamra, Aziza, Umm al-Keif, Umm Oshba, Dawoudia, Tel Shnan, Tawila, Tel Tawil, Tel Ward, Khedrawi and Besis al-Fouqani,” the statement read.

“Due to the ongoing Turkish shelling on December 21 and 22 , four civilians were killed and more than 14 were wounded, meanwhile three Syrian government soldiers were wounded,” the statement added.

“On December 22 at 09:00 AM, our forces countered infiltration attempts by mercenaries affiliated with the Turkish occupation on the outskirts of Umm al-Keif village, north of Tel Tamr, which resulted in violent clashes killing three mercenaries,” the statement noted.

“Ministry of Defense of the Turkish occupation state claimed that ten of our fighters got martyred and that on December 22, two others were martyred too,” according to the statement.

“Turkey, through its claims and lies, tries to falsify facts and present civilians who were martyred and injured as fighters so it tries to mislead and deceive the public opinion and justify its offensives, but it is quite clear now that the party which violates the understandings and the international laws of war is the Turkish forces and its mercenaries,”  the statement noted.
