Northwest Syria witnesses mutual shelling between government and opposition
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – The de-escalation zone in Idlib, northwest Syria, witnessed on Thursday military escalation and exchange of shelling between Syrian government forces and Turkish-backed armed opposition factions.
North Press reported opposition sources as saying the government forces used missiles and heavy artillery in bombing the opposition factions’ sites in the towns of al-Enkawi and al-Ziyara in the Gab Plain, north of Hama.
The opposition factions’ sites near the town of Ma’arat al-Na’asan, north of Idlib, were also bombed, but no casualties were reported, the sources added.
Meanwhile, al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room bombed the government forces’ sites in the Regiment 46 in the western countryside of Aleppo with missiles and heavy artillery, according to the sources.
Over the past three days, the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria had enjoyed relative calm regarding the mutual bombing between the two sides of the conflict, after months of military escalation that has left dozens of dead and wounded so far.
