QAMISHLI, Iraq, KRG (North Press) – On Friday, floods in several areas and neighborhoods in Erbil city, the capital of Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRG), killed at least eight people.
The preliminary death toll of the flash floods reached eight and it is likely to rise up with the presence of missing persons.
Kurdistan’s Prime Minister Masrour Barzani said he was “deeply saddened by the loss of lives and damage” caused by the flooding, as civil defense teams rushed to the scene and help the wounded and locate the missing.
As a result of the flash floods, massive losses were reported, while authorities are assessing the damages to disclose about them later.
In late October, official institutions in Erbil in the KRG were suspended due to flash floods in the city following heavy rainfall reporting material losses in possessions and houses.
The floods, at the time, swept away cars and other property of civilians and water entered into a large number of homes.
