Unidentified plane hits Iranian militias in east Syria
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – An unidentified aircraft bombed on Tuesday three military sites run by Iranian-backed militias in separate areas of the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
An unidentified aircraft targeted the headquarters of the Iranian-backed Ninth Regiment in the town of al-Duwair, 80 km east of Deir ez-Zor with missiles, without recording injuries or casualties, a military source of the Iranian-backed Hashemiyoun faction in the city of al-Bukamal on the Syrian-Iraqi border, told North Press.
“The same aircraft hit a military point of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the town of al-Majawda, 100 km east of Deir ez-Zor. Two local members were killed a car was burnt,” the source added.
The Hashemiyoun faction in the town of al-Bukamal on the Syrian-Iraqi border, was targeted by the aircrafts with two missiles, but only material damage was caused, according to the source.
The Iranian-backed factions withdrew and evacuated most of their points stationed on the western bank of the Euphrates River, in order to hide among civilians for fear of the return of aircrafts, the source noted.
Since the eruption of the events in Syria in 2011, Iran has officially announced its support to the Syrian government and sent its militias to support government forces in their war against factions of the Syrian opposition.
Iran supported and formed military factions, which are working to fulfill Iran’s ambition in Syria, the most prominent of these factions are National Defense Forces (NDF), Liwa Fatemiyoun, Hashemiyoun and Liwa Zainebiyoun.
Iran continues the process of recruiting Syrian militants within the ranks of factions affiliated with it through attracting them by offers, and extorting the deteriorating economic conditions that Syria is witnessing.
There are about 30 recruiting centers deploying in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, west of the Euphrates River, most of them were houses belonging to residents that were seized by Iranian-backed factions under the pretext that their owners are residing in areas held by either Syrian Democratic Forces or opposition factions.
