Intellectuals in NE Syria should play important roles in political decision: SDC

MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – The educated people are distancing themselves from the political arena, though they are the link between the people and the authority, Ali Rahmoun, Deputy President of the Executive Committee of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), said on Saturday.

Rahmoun stressed the need to “urge them to play their roles and take their part in the political decision.”

This came during a seminar organized by the SDC, under the slogan “The Intellectual and the Prospects for the Political Solution in Syria” in the city of Manbij, northern Syria, and it was attended by intellectuals and representatives of political parties in the city.

“It is necessary to know the reasons and obstacles that stand in the way of the effective participation of the educated elite in the political solution,” he added.

Rahmoun pointed out that all classes of the Syrian people must be involved in the political solution to the crisis in the country.

For her part, Rola Othman, a member of the Syrian Women’s Council, said “the educated person has an important role in the political solution.”

“We demand the unity of the Syrian territory. We demand the rights of all Syrian communities, and we call for the intra-Syrian dialogue,” she added.

On August 21, the SDC held a seminar under the slogan “The Intellectual and the Prospects for the Political Solution in Syria”, in the city of Derik (al-Malikiyah) in the far northeastern Syria, to discuss the political solution in Syria.
