Qamishli, Syria (North Press) – The president of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier awardedyesterday Bejin al-Hassan, a Syrian Kurdish female, with the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany was instituted in Germany in 1951 and is the highest tribute the Federal Republic of Germany can pay to individuals for services to the nation.
Bejin al-Hassan, 29, is a Kurdish female who hails from Qamishli city, northeast Syria, and was honored by the president of Germany for her efforts to “engaging the immigrants into the German society.”
Al-Hassan and her family fled the Syrian conflict and arrived in Germany in 2014.
Al-Hassan studied economy in the University of Damascus, pursued education in Germany and got Master in Business Management from a university in Emden city, Germany.
“The award motivated me to do my tasks in helping the immigrants who flee war and terrorism,” al-Hassan said in a voice statement to North Press.
In October 2020, the German Chancellor Angela Merkel awarded al-Hassan with a Germany’s national integration prize for establishing a digital website via which she assist the refugees to learn German and answers their questions.
Al-Hassan runs ‘Transfer of Knowledge’, a digital learning platform, and works hard to launch new projects to offer services to the refugee women.
