Washington comments on deployment of Russian aircraft in Syria’s Qamishli

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Washington is keen to keep channels of communication open with Moscow in Syria, The US Department of Defense spokesman said on Monday.

Commenting on Russia’s deployment of SU-35 fighters in Qamishli, northeast Syria, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said, “I cannot talk about the deployment of Russian forces and capabilities in Syria.”

“The United States has channels of communication with the Russian side to prevent squabbles,” Kirby added.

On October 20, 2015, a US-Russian bilateral mechanism was established to avoid accidents and confrontation between the armies of the two countries during operations in Syria.
