Militiamen carried out attacks in Syria’s de-escalation zone: Russian Reconciliation Center
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, Russian Reconciliation Center announced that militiamen conducted several attacks in the countryside of Aleppo and Latakia areas northwest Syria.
“Last Saturday, ten attacks were reported from Hayat Tahrir al-Sham/HTS-controlled positions in the de-escalation zone in Idlib,” the Center said.
Six attacks took place in Idlib, three in Aleppo, and one in Latakia,” the Center added.
On October 11, Deputy Head of the Russian Reconciliation Center Rear Admiral Vadim Kolet announced “One Syrian soldier was killed in government-held Hezarin area by snipers stationed in al-Fatirah village south of Idlib.”
For months, areas in Syria’s northwest have been witnessing mutual shelling between parties to the conflict in different areas amid news on government military reinforcements to different areas in the region.
Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.
