Turkey Shells northeast Syria a week after relative calm
TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) – Late on Monday night, Turkish forces shelled the countryside of Tel Tamr town, north of Hasakah, northeast Syria, following a relative calm in the area.
The Turkish forces fired up to ten artillery and mortar shells against the al-Dardara town, 4 km north of Tel Tamr, a source of the town’s Military Council said.
The bombardment caused material destruction to civilians’ properties in the village, the source added.
Since the beginning of October, the villages situated on the contact lines in Tel Tamr were exposed to intensive shelling by Turkish forces and its backed Syrian armed opposition factions destroying civilians’ houses and damaging vital buildings, educational facilities and cemeteries belonging to the Assyrian community.
Most of the villages located on the contact lines with the Turkish forces in the countryside of the towns of Tel Tamr in the countryside of Hasakah, have become empty of residents due to the continuous bombardment.
