Government forces bomb armed factions’ positions in Syria’s northwest
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, Syria government forces intensified their bombardment against Turkish-backed Syrian armed factions’ positions in the countryside of Hama, Latakia and Aleppo, causing material damage.
The government forces, stationed in Jurin Camp, bombed the factions’ positions in the villages and towns of Tel Waset, al-Ziyara, al-Enkawi and Khirbet al-Naqous, in Ghab Plain area in the western countryside of Hama, sources of the factions said.
The bombing caused the destruction of more than 11 houses, the sources told North Press.
In Aleppo, the government forces, which are stationed in the 46th Regiment, bombed the fortifications of the factions in the town of Kafr Noran in the western countryside of Aleppo, with mortar shells, the sources added.
Similar bombardment with rocket launchers and heavy artillery shells targeted the factions’ positions in Jabal al-Turkman area in the northern countryside of Latakia, according to the sources.
For its part, the al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room, which includes several factions, announced that it had targeted military points of the government forces in Miznaz and Kafr Halab towns in the western countryside of Aleppo, with artillery shells.
This coincided with reports of the entry of a Turkish military convoy that included military and logistical vehicles from the Kafr Lossin border crossing with Turkey, to northwest Syria.
For months, areas in Syria’s northwest have been witnessing mutual shelling between the government forces and opposition factions leaving dozens of civilian casualties and wounded.
Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.
