Government forces shell Turkish-backed factions’ posts in Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, Syrian government forces shelled posts of Turkish-backed Syrian armed factions in the countryside of both Idlib and Hama, northwest Syria, material loses reported.
“Today morning, the government forces, which are stationed in the town of Kafranbel, targeted the factions’ posts in the towns of al-Bara, Sfuhun, al-Fatira, and Benin in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib, with missiles and artillery shells,” sources of the factions told North Press.
“The government shelling destroyed more than 11 houses in the aforementioned areas in addition to damaging dozens of trees and forests in the targeted areas,” the sources added.
Meanwhile, the factions posts in the town of al-Enkawi, west of Hama, and the town of al-Tufahiya, north of Latakia, witnessed similar artillery shelling by government forces stationed in Jurin Camp.
The sources pointed out that the shelling coincided with intensive flight by Russian and Iranian drones over the region reporting no casualties.
During the past two days, the government forces sent military reinforcements to the towns of Kafranbel, Ma’arat al-Nu’man, Saraqib, and to the frontlines in south and east of Idlib.
For months, areas in Syria’s northwest have been witnessing mutual shelling between the government forces and opposition factions leaving dozens of civilian casualties and wounded.
