Drug lab run by opposition factions found in Syria’s Afrin
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Disagreements between Turkish-backed armed factions in Afrin, northwest Syria, led to the discovery of a drug lab run by Abdullah Halawa, who is affiliated with the al-Hamzat Division.
Yesterday on Sunday, a military group under the name of Azm stormed the headquarters of the Special Forces Division of the al-Hamza Division in the village of Burj Abdullah in Afrin.
The headquarters contained a laboratory for the manufacture of narcotics made by Turkish-backed factions to be exported later to Turkey.
The military group arrested four people who were in the factory, while it was reported that those responsible for the factory fled and went to Turkey.
In a statement, Mustafa Hammoud, spokesperson for the Azm Room, said that they did not participate in the process of finding the drug lab.
According to observers, Hammoud, by saying this, tries to prevent fueling the infighting that erupts occasionally between the factions.
It should be known that the Azm Room, which is run by the Levant Front and several other factions, announced their unity a while ago under the name of a unified command.
However, al Hamza, al-Amashat, Sultan Murad, and some other factions split from it to announce another body under the name of the unified command.
