Dispute over olive theft kills pro-Turkey factions’ member in Syria’s Afrin
ALEPPO COUNTRYSIDE, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, a member of the Turkish-backed al-Hamzat faction was killed in a dispute with his cousin over a sack of olives stolen from the residents’ fields in Bulbul District in Afrin countryside, northwest Syria.
The so-called Abu Raddah al-Mawali was shot dead by his cousin due to a dispute between them over a sack of olives after it was stolen from the village of Qastal Miqdad in Bulbul District, a local source told North Press.
The source added that the dispute between the two members of the al-Hamzat faction over the stolen olive sack led to the direct shooting of the so-called Abu Raddah by his cousin, killing him instantly.
This is not the first kind of such incidents. With the approach of each olive harvest in Afrin, the Turkish-backed factions increase their activity of stealing olives in Afrin and its countryside.
The Turkish forces and the Turkish-backed armed factions have been controlling the city of Afrin and its villages in northwest Syria since March 2018.
The Afrin region has been witnessing cases of killing, kidnapping and arrest, in addition to frequent bombings, amid the inability of the factions controlling it to settle the security in the region.
