NGO removes war remnants in Syria’s Hasakah
HASAKAH COUNTRYSIDE, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, RMCO Mine Action Organization destroyed a quantity of explosives of the remnants of war in a remote and empty area in the countryside of Hasakah, northeastern Syria.
“The step came to help one of the international partners which is active in the field of demining,” a source of the organization said.
He added that the destruction process took place in Shaddadi countryside, south of Hasakah, taking into account the scope of the bombing, and under the supervision of the mine engineering teams in the organization and in the presence of international partners present in northeast Syria.
The remnants that were destroyed today included Katyusha rockets, landmines and unexploded ordnance, according to the same source.
RAMCO, Roj Mine Control Organization, is a local non-governmental, non-profit organization that was established at the end of 2016, and works in coordination with the US-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, to remove mines and remnants of war in the regions of northeast Syria and raise awareness of their dangers.
On August 28, RAMCO detonated 32 mines and shells containing chemicals in the southern countryside of Hasakah.
