Commander of pro-government militia injured in Syria’s Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, a commander of a military group of the government forces in the countryside of Daraa, south Syria, was wounded with another person.
“Ahmed al-Jahmani and Salama al-Salamat were both wounded, after being targeted by unidentified gunmen,” a local source in the town of Tsil in the western countryside of Daraa, told North Press.
“The gunmen broke into the commercial office where al-Jahmani worked and shot him with another person. The two injured were taken to the Nawa National Hospital,” the source added.
Al-Jahmani works, according to the settlement agreement of the summer of 2018, as a leader of a group affiliated with the Fourth Division of the Syrian government forces.
Yesterday on Tuesday, the Syrian government forces entered the town of Tsil in the Yarmouk Basin area in the western countryside of Daraa, accompanied by the Russian Military Police, the Central Committee and the town’s notables.
These steps come as a continuation of the agreement held in early September between the Central Committee and the government forces brokered by Russia.
Daraa was subjected to a suffocating siege imposed by Iranian-backed factions and the government forces for more than two months. Finally, an agreement was reached between the parties to the conflict under Russian auspices on a ceasefire and the entry of government forces into the besieged neighborhoods.
