Syria’s Euphrates Region calls for complete lockdown against coronavirus
KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, co-chair of the Euphrates Region Health Board Ahmed Mahmud said that residents of the region do not comply with the preventative measures imposed by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) on September 14, which is causing the number of infections to increase during the fourth wave in the region.
On September 17, AANES issued a statement banning massive gatherings including marches, weddings, and wakes.
“So far we recorded 203 infections out of 532 swabs” in the Euphrates Region since the beginning of the fourth wave, Mahmud told North Press.
He pointed out that Health Board demanded that the Executive Council in the Euphrates Region impose a complete lockdown in the region against the coronavirus outbreak.
The daily toll of coronavirus infections is between 10 and 20 in Kobani, Sirrin, and their villages, in addition to the villages of Tel Abyad, according to Mahmud.
