Casualties among pro-Iranian factions in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – OnFriday, four militants were killed and three others were wounded in an attack on a pro-Iranian military point east of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.
The attack was claimed by ISIS through its media.
A military source from the government forces in the town of Abu Kamal, on the Syrian-Iraqi border, said that cars carrying dozens of militants raising the flags of ISIS targeted a military point of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) in the vicinity of Himar field, east of Abu Kamal, with machine guns.
The targeting killed four members and wounded three others, all of them Syrians, while the gunmen fled towards the desert, according to the source.
Most of the Syrian members of the IRGC-backed factions come from the towns of al-Marayyah, al-Sayyad, al- -Suway’iyah and others in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
The IRGC brought in reinforcements and military vehicles hours after the incident to comb the desert. It also fired dozens of missiles and artillery shells towards the desert of the city of al-Mayadin, where it is likely that ISIS members are present, the source added.
The Syrian Badia and areas under the control of government forces and pro-Iranian factions have recently witnessed violent clashes leaving casualties and material losses among government forces and pro-Iran factions.
On September 19, two members of a pro-Iranian faction were killed in the Shula desert, south of Deir ez-Zor.
