Two children injured in government bombing on Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, Syrian government forces bombed the opposition factions’ sites and residential areas in the countryside of Idlib and Hama, northwest Syria which resulted in the injury of two children.
“The government forces bombed the opposition factions’ positions near the village of Ma’arat al-Na’san in the northern countryside of Idlib, with heavy artillery shells,” sources of the opposition told North press.
“The bombing resulted in the injury of two children as a result of targeting the village,” the sources added.
The opposition factions’ sites near the towns of al-Bara and Kansafra, south of Idlib, were bombed with heavy artillery shells and rocket launchers.
In Hama, the government forces stationed in Jurin Camp bombarded the opposition factions near the towns of al-Sarmaniyah and al-Ziyara in the Ghab Plain area in the western countryside of Hama, with mortars and heavy artillery shells.
The Russian warplanes also bombed the outskirts of the village of Benin in the Zawiya Mountain area, south of Idlib.
Responding to the government bombing, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS-formerly Jabhat al-Nusra) shelled the government forces near the town of Miznar in the western countryside of Aleppo with heavy artillery shells.
It also targeted the government forces’ points near the town of al-Mashar’i, west of Hama.
Since June, areas in Syria’s northwest have been witnessing military escalation and intensive mutual shelling between Turkish-backed armed Syrian factions and government forces with Russian support.
The de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020; however, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.
