Turkey renews shelling Syria’s Tel Tamr, power went out

Tel Tamr, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday evening, the Turkish army and its affiliated armed factions bombed the Assyrian villages of Tel Jum’a and Tel Karabet in the countryside of Tel Tamr, north of Hasakah, northeast Syria, with artillery and mortar shells, while power was went out from the town and its villages due to the continued targeting of power stations and towers.

“A tower of the Tel Tamr power transmission station in the village of Tel Karabet collapsed due to continuous Turkish bombardment,” Ahin Sweid, the co-chair of the Energy and Communications Office in Jazira Region, said.  

A source of the Tel Tamr Military Council, which is affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), said that their fighters responded to the source of the missiles in a site in the village of al-Aziziyah, which is under the control of the Turkish army in the northern countryside of Tel Tamr.

Sources also reported that a member of the Syrian government forces, stationed on contact lines with the Turkish-backed factions, was wounded due to the Turkish bombing.

Days ago, the Syriac Military Council demanded in a statement that Russia “play a more effective role in the cessation of hostilities in the de-escalation zone and take positive position over the Turkish violations including shelling of civilians, civil and education institutions which violate the international convictions.”

For two weeks, the Turkish forces and the affiliated opposition factions have escalated their bombardment on the town of Tel Tamr and its countryside, 40 km north of the city of Hasakah, targeting inhabited villages and vital facilities in the area.
