ISIS leader arrested in SDF, coalition joint operation in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the US-led Global Coalition forces arrested a leader of the Islamic State (ISIS) in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

A military source of the SDF said that the SDF and the Global Coalition forces arrested the leader in an airdrop operation at his home.

The source added that the leader was active in planning assassinations and bombings, organizing the work of the sleeper cells and conducting contacts and communications among them.

The forces also found weapons, equipment and quantities of explosives, which he used to carry out operations and supply the sleeper cells with them.  

Recently, the SDF and the Global Coalition have intensified their security operations to pursue ISIS sleeper cells in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

Two days ago, a leader of ISIS was arrested in the town of Abu Khashab in the northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
