Russia to offer roadmap in Syria’s Daraa: Central Committee

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, a spokesman for the Central Committee in Daraa, southern Syria, said that the new Russian official informed them of the existence of a roadmap to the escalation in Daraa.

Today’s afternoon, representatives of the Central Committee met with General Andrei, the new Russian official in charge of the southern Syrian file, at the Panorama Stadium in the city of Daraa.   

A source of the Central Committee said that the Russians informed them of the existence of a new roadmap to peacefully end the crisis in Daraa.

He pointed out that the terms of the roadmap may include, as previous settlements, the handing over of individual weapons and the displacement of people unwilling to settle their status.  

It is expected that tomorrow will witness a new meeting with the aim of presenting the roadmap to the members of the Central Committee by the Russian official and discussing its provisions in order to reach a solution that satisfies all parties. 

For more than a month and a half, government forces and pro-Iranian factions have besieged the neighborhoods of Daraa al-Balad region and closed most of the roads leading to them.
