Government forces target mosque in Syria’s Daraa al-Balad

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Friday morning, Syrian government forces bombed a mosque in the besieged neighborhood of al-Sad Road in the outskirts of the Daraa al-Balad neighborhood.

In the early morning hours, the forces besieging Daraa al-Balad and the surrounding neighborhoods targeted the Sa’d bin Abi Waqas Mosque, in the al-Sad Road neighborhood with tanks, a local

source told North Press.

The bombing caused destruction to large parts of the minaret of the mosque, in addition to the destruction of parts of the wall and the roof of the mosque, the source added.

The Fourth Division of the government forces targeted the neighborhoods of Daraa al-Balad, al-Sad Road and Daraa Camp with improvised rocket-assisted mortars, mortar shells, and tanks, the sources added.

On Thursday evening, government forces closed the Saraya military checkpoint that connects Daraa al-Balad and the besieged neighborhoods with the center of Daraa city, and raised an earthen berm to completely prevent entry and

exit from Daraa al-Balad.
